QUETTA: The Old Age Home Project in Quetta is in last phase of completion. The project is being completed at the cost of Rs. 44 million, stated the head of the institution, Brigadier ® Abdul Razzaq Baloch in a briefing here the other day.
According to him, construction work had been started in year 2013 on piece of the land allotted by the provincial government as donation on Samungli Road near the Kidney Center. Around 16,092 square feet land had been allotted for the project, he mentioned.
While the cost of construction was estimated as Rs. 44 million, the amount of Rs. 10 million was required for furniture and other goods for the building.
The Brigadier ® Abdul Razzaq Baloch said that Rs. 20 million had been provided in 2013 and 2014 (Rs. 10 million each) from the MPA Fund of Ms. Rahila Hameed Durrani.
He hoped that the remaining amount would be provided in the new financial year 2015-16.
He said that the poor and deserving senior citizens would be kept in the Old Age Home.
Primarily, 19 deserving senior women would he stayed there and they would be provided all necessary facilities including food, medical aid and the care besides accommodation.
A non-governmental organization namely ABRO has been formed. It would be a different kind of initiative taken in the province, he said.
The Habib Bank Limited had donated Rs. 2.3 million while German Consulate Karachi has donated Rs. 1.3 million for the project.
Similarly, the USAID had provided around Rs. 5.3 million under the Small Grant Fund. The necessary furniture, goods and security items would be purchased from the funds and donations provided.
Hopefully, all the necessary purchases would be done and goods would be made available by July 15, 2015.
The Chief Minister Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch is likely to make inauguration of the project in August this year.
Meanwhile, Brigadier ® Abdul Razzaq Baloch thanked the USAID for the financial assistance provided for the Old Age Home Project in Quetta.
He also appealed to the philanthropists to take wholehearted part in the good cause giving donations so as to complete the project as soon as possible.
