Crackdown against old fashioned local buses continues

QUETTA: The crackdown against the poor condition buses is continued by the provincial and regional transport authorities in the provincial metropolis.
The Secretary Provincial Transport Authority (PTA), Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail along with Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Amanullah Panezai and Focal Person Jan Muhammad Muhammad Hassani carried out inspection of the local buses plying on the Nawan Killi Route in Quetta.
During the inspection, route permits of two buses were cancelled on the charges of poor condition. They were also declared outdated.
The Secretary PTA also directed to the concerned departments and Traffic Police to take further necessary action into the matter.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary PTA said that the overall condition of the local buses running on different routes is improving. However, still the old fashioned and poor conditioned buses are running on a few routes.
Legal action is being taken against such buses, the Secretary mentioned adding that route permits of the buses are also being cancelled.
Mandokhail also said that the notices have been issued repeatedly to the transporters and owners to bring improvement in condition of their buses. Otherwise stern action would be taken against them, he warned.
He said that the poor conditioned buses would not be allowed to run on the city routes. A list of the outdates buses is also being provided to the Traffic Police to take action against them, he maintained.
