This was announced by the Advisor to Chief Minister for Zakat and Haj-i-Aukaf, Mir Muhammad Khan Lehri while chairing a meeting in his office the other day.
He said that we would not deprive the deserving and poor persons of their due right by distributing zakat for the political purposes.

The lists of the deserving persons would be compiled afresh excluding the names of those included on political basis, Mir Muhammad Khan Lehri pledged.
Those who do not deserve would not be paid zakat, he maintained.
He directed to the District Zakat Officers to review the list of deserving persons entitled for zakat in their respective districts.
They have also been asked to identify those in the list who are no deserving but drawing zakat.
The Advisor to Chief Minister referring the quota of Hajj for Balochistan mentioned that the province’s quota has not been reduced. However, it is lesser as compared to the number of those desiring to go for pilgrimage.
Still, we are sending recommendations to the Federal Ministry of Hajj for increase in the Hajj quota of the province, Lehri said.
Moreover, we have sought proposals for bringing the religious places, historical mosques and graves of prominent personalities in to the control of the Aukaf department.
