Poor condition of buses, excessive fares:

QUETTA: The Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Amanullah Khan Panezai has stated that no relaxation would be given to the transporters on the issue of poor condition of the local transport and their fares.
This, he stated while chairing a meeting held to review the condition of local buses and the fares for different routes, here the other day. Needless to mention here is that the meeting was convened on certain public complaints regarding condition of the local transport and excessive fares being charged from the passengers.
The meeting was also attended by the Secretary Provincial Transport Authority, Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail, Focal Person Jan Muhammad Muhammad Hassani, besides others.
The representatives of the Local Bus Union were also present on the occasion.
The meeting decided to suspend the route permits of the local buses not maintaining their good condition. Stern action would also be taken against those overcharging from the passengers, it was decided further.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary RTA said that while the action is already being taken against the poor conditioned local buses, however, it is being intensified further. The route permits of such local buses have already been cancelled, he mentioned.
No one would be spared in this regard, Amanullah Panezai warned.
The SSP Traffic has been informed to take action against those local buses whose route permits have already been cancelled, the Secretary RTA said.
Referring fares of the local buses, he said that no one would be allowed to change the fares already fixed by the authority.
The representatives of the Local Buses owners and transporters on the occasion supported the action against the poor conditioned buses plying of different routes of the city and outskirt. The situation is defaming the transporters, they said.
Meanwhile, the Secretary PTA, Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail along with Secretary RTA, Amanullah Panezai and other concerned officials inspected the local buses running on Nawan Killi, Nau Hisar, Baleli and Samungli routes.
They also took action against four poor conditioned buses.
