Independence celebrations in full swing in metropolis

QUETTA: The Independence celebrations are in full swing in the provincial metropolis like other parts of the country.
Different activities are being organized marking the celebrations ahead of the Independence Day. The Directorate of Education (Schools) is also in the forefront in this regard organizing various activities to mark celebrations.
While it had already organized a colourful programme of tableaus and national songs the other day at the Balochistan Boy Scouts Association’s headquarters the other day, in which students of different schools took part and galvanized the participants with their spirit and enthusiasm, the quiz and essay writing competitions were held on Tuesday at the same venue.
Also the students of different schools participated in the competitions and showed their potential.
Meanwhile, a meeting was held to review the arrangements made for the Independence Day celebrations here the other day.
The Secretary Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), Hafiz Abdul Basit presided over the meeting.
The concerned civil and police officials were in attendance. It was vowed to take wholehearted steps for celebrations of the Independence Day in Quetta and other parts of the province.
The participants were of the view that Independence is a great blessing and as such we must celebrate it with enthusiasm.
All out efforts should be made to make the events arranged in this regard successful, the Secretary stressed.
The concerned officials also briefed the meeting about the measures taken and being taken for celebrations of the Day.
The security measures adopted to maintain law and order were also reviewed on the occasion.
Moreover, different sports activities are also continued in Quetta and different other parts of the province.
Needless to mention here is that the Provincial Sports Board has organized the events including hockey, cricket, football, shooting ball, athletics, cycling and others involving both male and female players.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Mir Mujeebur Rehman Muhammad Hassani has stated that the youth of the province has brightened the name of the province in different sectors including sports.
He was talking to a delegation of youngsters who called on him under leadership of a leader of Peoples Party, Mir Qadir Bakhsh Muhammad Hassani here the other day.
He said that the provincial government is mobilizing all available resources for promotion of sports and encouragement of the youth for their participation in healthy activities.
He said that sports and other positive healthy activities are the best mean to keep the youth away from negative activities and particularly the narcotics.
