QUETTA: A one-day awareness workshop was held on the fistula disease here at the Quetta Press Club.
The Pakistan National Forum on Women’s Health organized the workshop for the media persons.
Besides others, the workshop was also attended by President of the Press Club, Shahzada Zulfiqar, senor journalist Razaur Rehman and General Secretary, Khalil Ahmed.
Project Manager, Dr. Sajjad Ahmed briefed the participants about the disease, which affects the women.
It was informed that fistula is a curable disease, however, it is direly needed to treat the patients immediately once they are diagnosed with it.
The treatment of fistula among the female patients is very important to save them from embarrassment in the family, it was stressed further.
Lack of awareness among the married women about the disease cause problems in their marital life as in many cases, separation between the couples have also been witnessed in case the wife is suffering from the disease, it was regretfully pointed out.
So, there is a dire need to create awareness among the people particularly the women about the disease and its timely treatment so that they may not suffer, the Project Manager, Dr. Sajjad emphasized adding that the role of media in this regard is vital.
