QUETTA Aug 23 (PPI): “Pre-service and in-service training workshops are very essential for the capacity building and professional grooming of university faculty. In addition, in this age of information and communication technology skill development of teachers is vital”.
It was stated by Balochistan Chief Minister of Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch in his message on commencement of Professional Development Workshop for Faculty Members of Baluchistan Universities Monday August 24, 2015 at Faculty Development Academy COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Islamabad. The workshop will continue till 4th September 2015.
The main objectives of this master trainer workshop included: Keeping University teachers abreast with current trends in the andragogical skills; disseminating knowledge in areas such as curriculum development, assessment & evaluation, microteaching & research methodology, academic writing, classroom management, communication and presentation skills.
The chief minister on the behalf of coalition government and people of Balochistan, extended thank to organizers for making excellent arrangements and nice hospitality for the participants of the workshop.
While appreciating announcements made by the inter university consortium and its partner organizations in order to promote higher education in Balochistan, he said that such steps would be greatly helpful for improving quality of teaching and research in the higher education sector of the province. He believed that faculty of the province will benefit from these initiatives and would share the learned knowledge and techniques with their colleagues.
He also lauded role of Inter University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities (IUCPSS), COMSATS Institute of Information Technology and National Testing Service Pakistan for playing a vital role to bridge the gap among policy makers, government and academicians. Through collaborative efforts, learning from each others experiences, sharing expertise & knowledge and inter provincial coordination, the problems in higher education sector of the country, can be resolved. We need to strengthen and support such federal organizations. Balochistan government would continue to work with inter university consortium & its partner institutions. We would also benefit from the expertise of the member institutions and partner organizations of the consortium in higher education sector.
