QUETTA: No one would be allowed to play with the human life nor would anyone be let sell substandard and unhygienic meat or other edibles in this regard.
This was pledged by the participants during a meeting held here to review the sale of substandard and sick animals meat as well as other poor quality edibles in the provincial metropolis the other day.
The Mayor of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC), Dr. Kalimullah Khan presided over the meeting. It was also attended by the Commissioner Quetta, Kambar Dashti, Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Dawood Khilji, Director General Livestock, Chief Officer, Metropolitan, Attaullah Baloch, special magistrates and other concerned.
It was told to the meeting that certain complaints were being lodged from the citizens about selling of substandard meat in different parts of the city.
So, it was decided to adopt stringent measures for prevention of the same practice. The meeting also decided to strictly monitor the process of selling of the meat at the butchers’ shops and other related matters.
It was decided to issue directives to the butchers to adopt necessary measures for hygienic conditions at their outlets.
It was also decided that the veterinary doctors would do examination of the meat and stamp out the same after examination so as to prevent selling of the substandard meat.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner Quetta Division said that there are reports of selling of substandard medicines in the city.
While on the other hand, the poor quality edibles are also being produced, which is not fair and injurious to the health of children, he maintained.
He said that the quality of food and other edible things would be ensured at all cost. Those not doing so would have to be taken to task, he said.
The concerned staff is responsible to check the quality of food, he stressed.
Moreover, he also pointed out that the weight of the tandori naa (bread) is being reduced, which is not acceptable. Those who are doing so would have to face the music, he warned further.
It was decided that the veterinary doctors would visit the bakeries and hotels and examine the food items there. Those selling substandard food items would be sent to jail, he said.
The sale of the ghee and cooking oil being sold with different names and brands would be checked. Those found involved violating the rules and regulations in this regard would be taken to task, the Commissioner Quetta warned further.
