PTA speeds up further crackdown against poor conditioned local route buses

QUETTA: The Provincial Transport Authority (PTA) has expedited further crackdown against the poor conditioned local route buses in the provincial metropolis.
The crackdown, it may be mentioned here, has been accelerated on special directives of the Provincial Minister for Transport, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail.
In this regard, action has so far been taken against some 100 local buses, stated the Secretary PTA, Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail while talking to the transporters during inspection of the local buses in the provincial metropolis. Also present on the occasion were the Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Amanullah Panezai and Focal Person, Jan Muhammad Hassani.
The Secretary PTA ordered cancellation of the route permits of seven local buses of Sabzal Road, Samungli road and Nawan Killi routes.
He also directed to take necessary action against the concerned transporters and drivers. The directives were also issued to the Traffic Police to take stern action against the poor conditioned local buses plying on different routes of the city.
All such vehicles should be impounded, the Secretary PTA directed.
He mentioned that the checking of the local buses is being carried out for last two years. He regretfully pointed out that the owners / transporters of a few local routes are not taking care of their buses and ignoring the official directives in this regard. He warned that no one violating the directives in this regard would be spared at all, he added.
The Secretary PTA made it clear that our aim is not depriving any one of their livelihood or earning, but is just to ensure good facilities for the commuters.
Therefore, no negligence would be tolerated in this regard, the Secretary PTA asserted adding he asked the transporters to bring improvement in condition of their buses. Otherwise, they would not be allowed to run their buses on the city routes, he warned further.
