Security arrangements reviewed for polio immunization drive

QUETTA: The security arrangements were reviewed for the forthcoming polio immunization campaign in Quetta.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Syed Imtiaz Shah presided over the meeting. It was also attended by the Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Dawood Khan Khilji, SSO Operation, Waheedullah Khatak, Divisional Officer Health, Dr. Taj Muhammad Raisani, District Health Officer, Dr. Shah Jahan Panezai, SP Security, Syed Javed Gharsheen, besides other concerned.
The security measures were finalized for the campaign. As per the arrangements, strict and foolproof security would be provided to the teams to be engaged in the anti-polio task.
It was decided that the police and levies force personnel would be deployed along the workers and the vehicles engaged in the immunization campaign.
Around 2,000 personnel of the Police and some 158 personnel of the Levies force would be deployed for security duty of the campaign.
The area Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Police and Station House Officers (SHOs) would personally supervise the security of the polio teams, it was decided further adding that no polio team would leave for the campaign without security.
Earlier, the District Health Officer Quetta briefed the participants about the campaign. It was informed that the campaign would begin on September 17 and would remain continued till September 17.
A total of 784 mobile teams have been formed for the campaign in Quetta district where 335,506 children would be administered the anti-polio vaccine. Moreover, 77 fixed and 44 transit points have also been allocated in the district.
While on the other hand, 138 area supervisors have also been designated.
All the participants on the occasion pledged to make the immunization campaign a great success.
