Around 98 pc target of polio campaign achieved, claims EOC Coordinator

QUETTA: Around 98 percent target of the current polio immunization campaign in Balochistan has been achieved.
This was claimed by the Provincial Coordinator of Emergency Operation Center, Polio Eradication, Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman here on Thursday.
He maintained that while the target of the immunization campaign has almost been achieved during its first three days, the remaining one would be attained on the catch-up day (Thursday). And even, the children to be missed on the catch-up day would be covered on Friday (today), Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman said.
We are now focusing on the children, who were left-over during the NIDs campaign. In addition to the left-over children, the refusal cases would also be focused on the catch-up and the additional days, the Provincial Coordinator of EOC maintained.
At the outset, he told that the polio immunization campaign remained successful as compared to the past as it ran smoothly without any major issue or hurdle.
We tried out level best to maintain good rapport with all the concerned stake holders and the result was obvious, he mentioned.
The security arrangements were also excellent as the senior police officers took personal interest in the security affairs regarding campaign, the EOC Coordinator commended.
He also referred to the single phased campaign of Quetta district saying that it was at least for the first time that the campaign was launched in all union councils of the district simultaneously.
It may be mentioned here that the polio immunization campaign was launched on Monday last all over the province including Quetta.
There was a target to immunize 247,2616 children in the campaign being launched in all 32 districts of the province.
For the purpose, a total of 6,603 mobile teams had been constituted with 796 fixe point teams for the province. Moreover, the vaccine was also administered at 46 transit points all over the province where 321 transit teams were made available to vaccinate the children.
Needless to mention here is that Quetta, Pishin, Killa Abdullah, Zhob, Shirani, Musa Khail, Jaffarabad and Naseerabad districts had been declared polio high risk district.
