Secretary warns stern legal action against transporters cheating passengers

QUETTA: The Secretary Transport Department, Muhammad Khalid Baloch has warned stern action against those transporters fleecing their passengers on the festive occasion of Eidul Azha.
He has directed to all the Regional Transport Officers and other concerned to ensure implementation on the official fares fixed for the public transport plying on different routes in the province.
No one found cheating the passengers on account of the excessive transport fares would be spared at all, warned the Secretary Transport further while chairing a meeting on the related issues of excessive transport fares, overloading, etc. here the other day.
Those who were in attendance in the meeting were included the Secretary Provincial Transport Authority (PTA), Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail, Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Amanullah Khan Panezai, Under Secretary Transport Department, Aiwaz Ali and Focal Person, Jan Muhammad Muhammad Hassani besides other concerned.
The Secretary Transport on the occasion mentioned that the wholehearted steps are being taken to bring improvement in state of public transport, on special directives of the Minister Transport, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail.
He said that the department has decided to take stern action against those transporter, who were found charging additional fares from the passengers.
Similarly, the action would also be taken against those transporters found overloading of the passengers and over speeding.
He said that the Quetta-Gwadar transport service has been launched on desire and demand of the public. This would facilitate the people of the area in a big way, he maintained.
The Secretary said that the condition of transport is improving with our efforts and cooperation of the transporters. Checking of the vehicles, being done from time to time, is bearing good results, he maintained.
