QUETTA: It was really a simple but an impressive ceremony organized marking inauguration of the Adara Bahali Umar Raseeda Afrad namely ABURO (Old Age Home) here at the Samungli Road on Tuesday.
The Commander Southern Command, Lt. General Nasser Khan Janjua was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. He formally inaugurated the Old Age Home for the otherwise distressed elderly persons including male and female.
Also attended the ceremony was by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General Aftab, Major General Azhar and a few other senior army officers as well as the dignitaries from various walks of the life including the social celebrities and the leading business persons.
Among prominent present on the occasion were the Member Provincial Assembly and the main supporter of the project, Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, former Federal Minister for Health, Dr. Abdul Malik Kasi, former Senator, Mrs. Roshan Khursheed Bharucha, Chairperson of Tanzim Idara Bahali-e-Musehqeen (TIBM), Mrs. Surriya Allahdin, Mrs. Azmat Hasan Baloch, the Deputy Mayor of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation, Muhammad Younas Baloch, Joint Director Colleges, Professor Ms. Rubab Hameed Khan Durrani, and others.
The head of the ABURO, Brigadier ® Abdul Razzaq Baloch, who also happens to be the honorary Consul General of Germany and France in Quetta, briefed the chief guest and other guests about the welfare project.
He said that the land for the project was provided by the provincial government. He was appreciative of all those especially MPA Ms. Rahila Durrani, who provided Rs. 20 million from her MPA Fund for the project. Her financial cooperation and assistance remained remarkable, Brigadier ® Abdul Razzaq Baloch commended.
She also acknowledged the cooperation of USAID, German Consulate and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) for establishment of the Home and making it functional.
With cooperation of them, it was possible to establish the Home for the neglected and distressed women in Quetta.
He said that initially there was a capacity of 24 women in the Old Age Home, however, later the capacity would be increased to 50 males and females. There would be separate arrangements for them in future, he added.
He sought the cooperation of philanthropists to come forward and help run the project on sustainable basis.
Brigadier ® Abdul Razzaq Baloch, on the occasion, also appreciated the role of Commander Southern Command in restoring peace and bringing improvement in overall situation of the province.
The Commander Southern Command, in his presidential address, praised the project saying that those help others and do such welfare works are great.
He particularly appreciated the approach and thinking behind the project launched by Brigadier ® Abdul Razzaq Baloch and his team.
He assured every possible support to run the project in future providing necessary assistance to the Old Age Home including ration, etc., as is being done with SOS children project.
He said that we are part of you people (organizers of the project) in your good cause. Referring to the elderly persons in the society, the Commander SC stressed that we have to take well care of our elderly people.
We have to take care of them when there’s no other to do so and they are really need our help, he maintained.
General Janjua highly appreciated Ms. Rahila Durrani for her contribution in the social cause. I see her engaged in every good deed, which is very appreciable, adding he commended.
Referring situation in Balochistan, the Commander Southern Command said that while we and the political government has played their part in improving the situation, however, the role of lovely people of the province is marvelous.
Although he is leaving Balochistan, but he is very satisfied, he said adding that the province and its people would remain in his heart forever.
He would continue to associate him with the people of Balochistan, the Commander pledged.
The Member Provincial Assembly, Ms. Rahila Durrani, in her address, said that it was her dream to establish the institute for the disregarded and forgotten persons mainly the women, and her dream has come true now.
She humbly provided funds for the project when other members of the assembly objected negating it, Ms. Durrani mentioned.
She would continue to support the project, rather would request the philanthropists to extend wholehearted cooperation to it in future, Ms. Durrani vowed.
Ms. Surriya Allahdin also addressed the gathering. She also praised the project and appreciated the team of Brigadier ® Abdul Razzaq Baloch in this regard.
