QUETTA: A workshop on the gender sensitivity and women development was held under the auspices of a non-governmental organization (NGO) namely HARD Balochistan at the Boy Scouts Association’s headquarters the other day.
The people belonging to various walks of the life including representatives of the civil society participated in the workshop organized in collaboration with the Action Aid.
The senior lawyer Waseem Kamran, social worker Saleem Baloch, Ms. Sabira Islam Advocate, Ms. Shazia Lango and others addressed the workshop.
They highlighted the gender sensitivity in perspective of constitution of the country.
They also spoke at length about the relevant laws about the gender sensitivity. They stressed the need to create awareness among the masses against gender discrimination in the country.
The gender discrimination could be eliminated through education, they stressed further adding that we could eliminate the gender discrimination by educating the people particularly the womenfolk. When the women would be aware about their rights, then they would be able to defend them well, the speakers maintained.
The speakers also called on the political parties to play their important part in elimination of the discrimination made on the basis of gender.
It is an unfair to do discrimination with the women on the basis of their gender, the lawyers and the social activists said.
They also called for ensuring implementation on the laws related to the gender indiscrimination in the country.
