QUETTA:A seminar on road safety marking Motorway Rising Day was held under the auspices of National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) here at a local hotel the other day.
While the seminar was headed by the Deputy Inspector General of Motorway Police (West Zone), Ehsan Manzoor, the event was also attended by the Provincial Minister for Information, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, General Manager of National Highway Authority (NHA), Noorul Hasan Mandokhail, Additional Chief Secretary (Development), Naseebullah Khan Bazai, renowned academician and Principal of Government Degree Girls College Quetta Cantonment, Professor Dr. Shagufta Iqbal, Dr. Asghar Babar, lecturer BUITEMS, Naseer Shah besides other concerned and students of different institutions and people from various walks of life.
A quiz competition was also held on the occasion. The participating male and female students took part in the competition. Helmets were also distributed among the students besides giving away prizes to the position holders.
Earlier, the speakers including the experts highlighted different aspects of the road safety including its importance in saving lives of hundreds of the people, who otherwise lost them in the fatal road accidents.
They stressed that it is very important to create awareness about the road safety and particularly inform the people how to escape road traffics by following the principles of traffic.
In the seminar the necessary information was also provided about the use and importance of the seat belt and harms of overloading as well as over speeding and use of mobile while driving.
Speaking on the occasion, the Provincial Minister Information and Information Technology, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal appreciated performance of the NH&MP regarding road safety.
He stressed the need to conduct similar awareness seminars on road safety in future as well so as to aware the general public more about the issue. In this regard, the provincial government would extend wholehearted cooperation to the NH&MP.
Other speakers also applauded the efforts of the NH&MP in creating awareness about road safety in the province. They hoped that the same role of NH&MP would remain continued in future as well.
