Ex-Olympian Minhas dies in train accident

QUETTA: The former Olympian belonging to Balochistan Province, Abdul Qayum Minhas was also among those died in the tragic Jaffar Express accident on Tuesday morning.
According to the family sources, Minhas was proceeding for Gujranawala from Quetta by Jaffar Express when it (train) met the fatal accident in Aab-e-Gum area of Bolan.
Minhas had represented Pakistan in 1964 Tokyo Olympics. After retirement from the national and international, he had devoted himself for promotion of sports in the province.
His funeral would be held today (Wednesday). He would be laid to rest in the local graveyard here.
Meanwhile, the acting President of Balochistan Olympic Association, Atta Muhammad Kakar has expressed his deep grief and sorrow over demise of Abdul Qayum Minhas in the train accident.
He paid tributes to him on his services for the cause of sports in the province. It is just sorrowful that the former Olympian died in a train accident, Kakar said.
He prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul of Minhas into Its eternal peace and give enough strength and patience to the bereaved family members.
