HQ City Report
QUETTA: A 20-member committee of the chairmen and vice chairmen of the district councils has been formed to take up the issue of non-transfer of powers and lack of resources for the district councils with the provincial government.
This was announced by the Chairman of Quetta District Council, Malik Naeem Bazai while addressing a press conference here.
He was flanked by Fida Hussain Dashti, Malik Usman Achakzai and other concerned.
Referring the committee, Malik Naeem Bazai said that it has been formed in a joint meeting of the local bodies representatives including district chairman and Vice Chairman from all over the province held in Quetta the other day.
He said that it is a matter of concern that the necessary powers and resources have not been given to the local bodies institutions and their representatives despite lapse of around two years of the LB elections in the province.
He said that the situation has created a sense of uncertainty among the LB representatives. He said that it was decided to form a committee comprising the District chairman and vice chairman.
The Chairman Quetta District Council, Naeem Bazai would head the committee, which would approach the government over the issue and persuade it to give necessary powers and resources to the councils.
A 12-point agenda would also be presented to the government, he mentioned adding that if the demand was not met, then we would decide future course of action, Bazai announced.
