Commissioner and EOC Coordinator pledge to conduct anti-polio campaign effectively

QUETTA: The Commissioner Quetta Division, Kambar Dashti and Provincial Coordinator of Emergency Operation Center (EOC) for eradication of Polio, Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman have issued standing directives to hold the forthcoming polio immunization campaign in high risk Killa Abdullah district effectively.
They have warned that no negligence would be tolerated on part of district administration, concerned health officials and other departments.
The Commissioner and Coordinator of EOC co-chaired the meeting ahead of the polio immunization campaign being launched from December 14, 2015 all over the province including Quetta, Killa Abdullah and Pishin, which have otherwise been declared as the high risk districts.
The meeting particularly focused on the campaign to be conducted in Killa Abdullah. The Deputy Commissioner Killa Abdullah, Khuda-e-Dad, UNICEF’s Polio team leader, Dr. Jawahir Habib, WHO’s Dr. Ibrahim, Dr. Masood Khan Jogezai, Dr. Aftab Kakar, besides the Assistant Commissioners and Tehsildars from the district.
The EOC’s provincial Coordinator briefed the meeting in detail about the polio campaigns in Killa Abdullah.
He particularly pointed out towards insufficient teams and their performance in Killa Abdullah district.
The Deputy Commissioner on the occasion informed the meeting about the issues being faced by administration in running the polio immunization campaign in the district.
Addressing the meeting, the Commissioner said that it is our collective responsibility to make struggle for polio eradication. He said that whatever happened in the past is now part of the history, but now we have to look forward and make concerted efforts to make our districts polio-free.
There is no room of negligence and carelessness of part of all concerned, adding he asserted.
The Commissioner Quetta insisted that we have to make our efforts double for eradication of polio. Special attention would have to be given to improve performance of the anti-polio teams.
He said that the agencies are helping us in coping with the issue of polio after coming from abroad, we would also have to help ourselves and save our children from the crippling disease, he maintained.
All the concerned departments and administration have to improve their performance 100 percent with regard to polio eradication, he stressed.
The Coordinator EOC also briefed the meeting about the arrangements made for the polio immunization campaign being launched from December 14, 2015 in the province.
He said that all the necessary arrangements have been made for the polio campaign.
It may be mentioned here that the three-day campaign would be launched all over the province.
