during vital campaign as well

QUETTA: Three-day national polio immunization campaign is all set to be kicked off all over the province today (Monday).
According to the Provincial Coordinator of Emergency Operation Center (EOC) for Polio Eradication, Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman, the polio immunization campaign is being launched in all districts of the province.
He said that we have to vaccinate 24,72,616 children below five years of age during the special immunization campaign.
More than 8,000 teams have been formed for the task of vaccination to children, Dr. Saifur Rehman informed. They are included 6,603 mobile teams, 796 fixed teams and 321 transit teams.
In addition to them, 46 permanent transit teams have also been formed to administer the anti-polio vaccine to the children, he maintained.
What’s important is also that 55,085 Afghan refugee children would also be vaccinated against the polio disease during the current campaign, he added.
Referring the security arrangements made for the campaign, the Coordinator of EOC told that the necessary security arrangements have been made with the personnel of Police, Levies Force and Frontier Corps (FC) would be deployed with the health workers and volunteers.
It would be our utmost endeavor to achieve the desired target of immunization during the forthcoming campaign, he pledged.
In this regard, all the parents have been asked to ensure immunization of their children so as to save them from the crippling disease of Polio, he urged.
He has also appealed to all other segments of the society to fully back the campaign.
The Chief Secretary has already expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements and directed to make them more effective so as to rid the province of the fatal virus.
Meanwhile, while talking to the media persons here the other day, the EOC Coordinator pointed out with contentment that the ratio of prevalence of polio was decreased in year 2015 than the last year (2014). There is almost 80 percent decline in the cases of polio reported in the current year than the preceding year, he maintained.
He said that we would not be sitting at ease until and unless the polio virus is eradicated fully from the province.
He also expressed his satisfaction over the previous polio immunization campaign in the province.
Dr. Saifur Rehman also said that we would be able to eradicate the crippling disease with support of the health workers and other concerned.
