QUETTA: The Provincial Minister for Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani has said that the present government has taken wholehearted measures for promotion of education and provision of better educational facilities particularly to the girl students in the province.
He was addressing the ceremony at the Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University (SBKWU) the other day.
Also present on the occasion was the Vice Chancellor of SBKWU, Professor Dr. Rukhsana Jabeen besides other staff.
The Minister S&GAD said that revolutionary changes have been brought about in education sector particularly of the women education. The girl students were deprived of the higher education in the past, he regretfully pointed out. However, the situation has been quite changed in the province, he maintained.
The Minister said that it is our desire to open campus of the Women University in all districts of the province so that their girls may also acquire higher education at their doorstep, he maintained. He pledged to make personal endeavours in this regard.
Referring performance of the SBKWU, Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani maintained that he has just heard about it. He has found more than what he had heard about the university, he noted with contentment.
The credit of success made by the University goes to its Vice Chancellor and her team, who worked tirelessly for the cause of higher education of women, the Minister commended.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of SBKWU, Professor Rukhsana Jabeen highlighted the issues being faced by the University.
She pointed out that the strength of girl students is increasing with every passing year, so we need more land to expand the University building in view of the future requirements.
The SBKWU Vice Chancellor also mentioned that a piece of 200 acre of land was provided for establishment of the Women University Campus in Aghbarg area, however, we could not get the land because of some unavoidable reasons.
If we get the same land, we would be able to establish a campus there as we have the funds for the purose, she added.
Moreover, a campus of the Women University has also been approved in Noshki district, she mentioned.
The women of the area would also be able to get higher education once the campus was established there, she said.
In addition to the issues already mentioned, the Vice Chancellor also pointed out towards the non-availability of the gas and electricity load shedding in the severe cold weather.
