Quetta admin continues crackdown against encroachments

QUETTA: As many as 10 shopkeepers were arrested on the charges of establishing encroachments on Gawalmandi chowk and Sirki road areas as the district administration is continuing crackdown against the encroachers.
It may be mentioned here four teams have been formed to take action against the encroachments in different parts of the city including the outskirts.
The encroachments were removed from Kuchlak and Joint road besides the Gawalmandi chowk and Sirki road. The makeshift hotels established on the Sirki road were also demolished as part of the campaign against encroachments. The material and goods which otherwise were causing disruption in flow of traffic were also taken into custody.
The removal of encroachments helped resolve the issues of traffic.
It may be mentioned here that the action was supervised by the Assistant Commissioner Quetta city, Javed Mengal and Special Magistrate, Babrak Khan, on special directives of the Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Dawood Khilji.
While the general public has hailed the initiative of the district administration against the encroachments, the Mayor of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC) has asked the administration not to disturb the poor segments of the society during the campaign unnecessarily.
However, the Assistant Commissioner Quetta city has pledged to continue the crackdown against encroachment without any discrimination.
He said that stern action would be taken against those reestablishing encroachments in front of their outlets. No one would be spared in this regard, maintaining he asserted.
