Poor condition public transport not to be allowed to ply on city roads

QUETTA: The Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Amanullah Panezai has warned that the poor conditioned public transport would not be allowed to ply on the roads.
He stated so while talking to the media persons here the other day. Also present on the occasion were representatives of the local bus association.
The Secretary RTA mentioned that the route permits of some 123 out of total 764 local buses have been cancelled owing to their poor condition.
We would not allow any local bus with poor condition come on the road, the Secretary RTA asserted.
He said that the local bus owners and transporters had been issued warning repeatedly to bring improvement in condition of their transport.
The public advertisements were also made in this regard conveying them to do so, otherwise action would be taken, he maintained.
Due to the poor condition of the local buses, the environmental issues were created in the city, he pointed out.
While on the other hand, the passengers were also affected due to the situation, he mentioned.
Therefore, the crackdown was made against the poor conditioned local transport on directives of the Commissioner Quetta Division, Kambar Dashti, he maintained.
It would be ensured that no local transport with bad condition as well as those smoke emitting ones may not come on the roads.
Meanwhile, as many as four buses were impounded while six others were challaned as the crackdown has been started against the condemned local buses in the city.
The action was taken by the Secretary Provincial Transport Authority (PTA), Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail, Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Amanullah Panezai, Motor vehicle Examiner, Liaquat Ali Bugti, DSP Sher Muhammad and Focal Person, Jan Muhammad Muhammad Hassani along with the traffic police.
The Secretary PTA on the occasion pledged to continue action against the unauthorized local buses. He said that it is responsibility of the authority to ensure provision of best travelling facilities to the public and no compromise would be made in this regard.
