SMEDA’s Training on Grapes (New Varieties & Techniques) in Gulistan.

QUETTA Nov 25 (PPI): A Training programme was jointly organized by SMEDA & Agriculture Department Govt. of Balochistan on Grapes (New Varieties & Techniques), Farm Management its scope and financial benefits. The training program was successfully conducted in Gulistan on a Private farm. The grapes producers of District Qilla Abdullah actively participated in the session.
Programme was inaugurated by Saadi Shamshozai the Private farmer, who briefed the farmers about the potential of grapes cultivation and its scope. Mr. Ajmal Khan Achakzai, Management Associate, SMEDA-Balochistan highlighted the SMEDA’s initiatives, training programmes and future projects. Mr. Muhammad Asif Zehri, representative Agriculture Dept briefed the concept of Grapes Farm Management; discussed its overall management steps and also highlighted the main issues related to Grapes in Gulistan. He projected the solutions for those problems.
SMEDA Balochistan took the initiative for promoting and developing these highly potential and in-demand grapes varieties and after series of consultative meetings with stakeholders & market survey on new varieties like Red Globe, Thompson Seedless & Schondarkhani etc.
The theme of the training programs was to create awareness among private farmers for exploring the economical potential of New Varieties of Grapes. The objective was to develop expertise of farmers in agriculture sector and promoting the sector in province specifically planned for the optimal utilization of scarce resources. At the end of the session farmers thanked the SMEDA for arranging such an informative and thought provoking training program for the farmers of the district who have no knowledge to cope with the increasing problems of grapes farming. While focusing on the establishing and managing the new varieties of grapes, they also threw light on the available resources in Mastung for Grapes Farming. A healthy participation was observed in the training programs.
While concluding the training SMEDA thanked the participants, private farmer and Agriculture Department for making this event a success.
